What Jesus Says About Worrying About Tomorrow

Trusting God when anxiety feels loud

Anxiety is part of life—but it doesn’t have to be in charge. Jesus offers a different way to live: trusting the Father’s care for today and tomorrow.

Jesus’ Clear Word on Worry

Matthew 6:25 (WEB): “Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing?”

Jesus isn’t dismissing real needs. He’s inviting us to a bigger perspective—God knows what we need and cares for us.

Matthew 6:26 (WEB): “See the birds of the sky… your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?”

If God cares for birds and flowers, how much more will He care for you—His child?

Matthew 6:34 (WEB): “Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.”

Jesus calls us back to today. Grace is given for the present moment—not for imaginary futures.

Seek First—Then Rest

Matthew 6:33 (WEB): “But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.”

Our part: put God first. God’s promise: He will provide what we need.

Philippians 4:6–7 (WEB): “In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.”

Prayer trades our worry for God’s peace. Thanksgiving reminds us of His past faithfulness.

Practical Steps When Anxiety Rises

1. Breathe & Pray: “Father, You know what I need. I trust You with today.” (Matthew 6:8)

2. Focus on Today’s Faithfulness: List three ways God has cared for you recently.

3. Do the Next Right Thing: Take one small step of obedience you can do now.

4. Replace Rumination with Scripture: Read Matthew 6:25–34 and Philippians 4:4–9 slowly.

5. Share the Burden: Tell a trusted friend and invite prayer. (Galatians 6:2)

A Short Prayer

Jesus, You know my worries. I choose to seek Your Kingdom first. Provide what I need today and fill my heart with Your peace. Amen.
